PROFILE OF RP19 - LMs in Orientation


SHERRYL LOU “SHE” CAPILI, 28 years old, originally from Cavite is the eldest of 3 children. Her interests are scriptwriting, events organizing and taking photos. Her friends describe her as bubbly, inspiring and thoughtful and her family finds her understanding and responsible. Her active community involvement began from a weekend retreat in December 2008. Since then, she has been sharing with the St. James Renewal Movement her experiences of God’s love through outreach programs, prayer meetings, and other regular activities. She wants to be a missionary to serve God with other people, other race. She joined the Lay Mission from working at the ABS-CBN Foundation.


JOAN “Jo” YAP, 32 years old, of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay is the 5th of 8 children. Two of her sisters, Jennifer (RP9) and Jasmine (RP14) are former Columban Lay Missionaries. Her interests are computers and listening to music. She considers her mother and sisters as her closest friends. One challenge that she sees ahead of her in life is living independently from her family with whom she is very attached to. If she does not go on cross-cultural mission, she would like to continue working as a social action volunteer in her native Ipil.


REINA “Reins” MOSQUEDA, 33 years old, of Los Baños, Laguna, is the 7th of 9 children. Some of her hobbies are reading, singing and dancing. Her co-workers describe her as jolly, thoughtful and loyal. When she was still in college she used to read in Misyon magazine the stories of lay missionaries and be inspired by them. Now, she can talk to them and listen to their stories in person. She believes that the Columban lay missionaries’ zeal and simplicity plus their joy and humility in serving the needy are their goals. She came to Lay Mission from working with the Catholic Ministry to Deaf People, Inc. (CMDP).
